At a packed-out Emirates, Katie McCabe spots a familiar flag, and RUFC help make history

Last month, our U12 girls had an unforgettable trip to London to watch Arsenal face Manchester United at the Emirates. It was a day of firsts; the first time some of our girls visited London, their first WSL game, and the first time in history the Emirates sold out for a WSL game.

The u12 girls were fully decked-out in their Raheny tracksuits when they arrived at the stadium. And after just a couple minutes, we had our first goal; a deflected corner taken by former Raheny United superstar Katie McCabe! The stadium went wild, as did our girls - proudly flying their RUFC flag. Arsenal ran out as 3-1 winners, and after the game Katie took a stroll down towards where our girls were in the corner of the stadium.

She quickly spotted her old club colours in the crowd, and stopped to take this photo:

The girls along with all their parents and coaches had a fantastic time at the match, and seeing the sights of London.

Club renovations & fundraising update 🪚

Renovations at the clubhouse are well under way! We have just recently installed a brand new lift for improved accessibility to our bar and function room. As a reminder, the renovation plans also include adding individual toilets and shower blocks to each changing room on the ground floor, allowing for simultaneous hosting of two male and two female teams. We also plan to upgrade the players' gym and add a meeting room for video analysis sessions.

To help us meet our funding target, you'll all remember we held a Christmas raffle. A massive THANK YOU! to all the parents and coaches for their support. We raised over 19k! In addition, our ongoing "Buy a Brick" campaign has so far raised a further 25k. This brings us to 44k raised so far. That is still shy of our 100k target, but great progress nonetheless. If you have not participated in "Buy a Brick", you can learn more here. A special thank you to Declan Murphy for all his incredible work in driving this forward so far. Stay tuned for more fundraising updates coming soon!

The Raheny Rookies need YOU!

The Raheny Rookies Academy is for 4-6 year olds and happens every Saturday morning on the Astro. While it's been going great this year, we can never have enough coaches! The more coaches, the more personalised guidance every child gets. If you're interested in being an academy coach, please get in touch with Paul McAtee on +353 86 081 0458

Match Report

Crumlin United 5-1 Raheny United

03/03/24

A big match unfolded at Pearse Park in Crumlin, where our U19s LSL team battled against Crumlin in the LFA Cup semi-final. Facing a formidable opponent and buoyed by strong home support, our lads anticipated a challenging match. Despite their brilliant effort, they fell short with a score of 5-1. Despite narrowing the gap to 2-1 after being down 2-0, thanks to Jack Melia's goal for Raheny, it marks the end of the team's season-long unbeaten streak. Unfortunate result, but commendable effort, lads. 👏

Raheny United 3-1 Rathcoole

03/03/24

Better news from Pitch 5 in St. Anne's today as the LFL U19s rallied from a 1-0 deficit with 15 minutes remaining to secure a 3-1 victory, advancing to the semi-final of the Macron Sports Development Cup! Despite some good opportunities for Raheny to take the lead in the first half, the score remained 0-0 at halftime. However, after the team fell behind in the second half, they rallied late-on with Johnathan Cray, Sean Wade, and Patrick McNamara netting for Raheny.
